Tara Schlussel, PhD
Co-Founder, Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Tara Schlussel is a licensed clinical psychologist who received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles, with a specialization in integrative health psychology. Her research and clinical interests focus on trauma, resilience, and relational factors that mitigate the intergenerational transmission of trauma.
She has trained and practiced in a range of settings, including the Saban Community Clinic, the VA Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center, the West Los Angeles VA, the Simms/Mann–UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology, and private practice, where she has provided individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy, as well as conducted comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments.
Dr. Schlussel has extensive training in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and its specialized applications (CBT-I, CBT-SUD, CBT-CP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as mindfulness- and mind–body–based interventions such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Self-Compassion (MSC), and biofeedback. Her clinical work integrates these approaches within a psychodynamic and relational framework.
